Jeremiah 3:1 … saying: If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man’s, may he return unto her again? Will not that land be greatly polluted? But thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; and wouldest thou yet return to Me? saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 3:20 Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with Me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD.

I bring this to the discussion, presenting our relationship to the ALMIGHTY GOD. I had an epiphany as I awoke this morning. An understanding of how the relationship between the ALMIGHTY and Jacob, Israel and Judah are like Husband and wives.
You maybe asking “Why this matters?”, or “How can we be brides, are we not also men?”
I admit that this relationship has been very odd in my mind. Even though I have been studying and contemplating the Written Torah and Tanakh for a few decades. These concepts are difficult to begin with, and even more so when the today’s social ideas actually destroying the family, roles of men and women. These make understanding many more times difficult.
We can start in many places to try to understand the concepts and issues. However, perhaps it is better to start in my very recent history. Given the societal definitions and pressures currently in progress, I presented in social media this idea:
{[On Facebook] “A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.” –Jackie Robinson
A man brings to the game of life, facing outward from the family, his strength, honor, defense of family and provisions for the family. The woman facing inward, makes the home, creates life and builds family and relationships in the community, while support of mental and physical for her spouse which provides protection and provisions. Well that is how it has been for thousands of years. . . . . }
That was a piece of what I wrote. Perhaps the thing that set off my epiphany and this writing.
So how is the relationship of mankind to the Almighty, like a man and a woman?
When GOD created man in his image, man was formed from the dust and the LORD placed some of HIS Spirit in the Dust to create a LIVING SOUL, or part of HIMSELF. Adam’s job was to name each of the items the LORD created. When GOD created the “Help Meet” or Adam’s Help, the LORD took a part of Adam(a rib) and used that to create her. As in Genesis 2:23 And the man said: ‘This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.’ So we have man created with some of the LORD and woman created with some of the man.
“Why do I need to know this now?” Perhaps that is what you are thinking. I ask for your patience in this, for it will be needed to understand this text.
Man’s task has been to be the rule giver, enforcer, protector from any attackers(animals, the world, other people), provide food(hunting, farming and gathering) and comfort from the world, providing support emotional, physical, healing and to fertilize the wife. To do his work, the man must look out into the world to see and understand where the dangers maybe coming from; watch the weather and plan how to deal with all of these things, so that the family to survives.
The wife carries the eggs and therefore creates the life of the future family, she also makes the home, directly nourishes, gives compassion, heals, emotional support, teachings the children, and perhaps heals the husband from damages caused by his efforts in the world. She looks toward: the home, children, supplies, communal relations thereby knowing when and how to nurture and strengthen the family to survive.
He is also her support when he is not performing his main tasks. They, together are a complete person, complementing the other in strengths and weaknesses. No person is complete by themselves. They can survive alone, but only as a incomplete person and never as a family with the strength that situation provides. This knowledge seems to have been ignored and lost on people today.
We have a foundation of human relations,(man and woman), but how about us and the ALMIGHY?
In our relationship with the ALMIGHTY, we are to: Know HIM by what HE has done, by HIS DEEDS(Always keeps HIS WORD), and giving us HIS Laws, teachings, and Covenants. He then provides for our needs, gives the rains at the right time and amount, gives the crops and harvest so that we have more than enough, makes of animals fertile and heals our wounds, strengths us, teaches us, corrects us, shows compassion and mercy to us when we do not deserve it, gives us peace and safety, HE is our Defender such that NONE can touch what HE PROTECTS. HIS WORD has another side to it, in that when we refuse HIM, ignore HIM or even fight against HIM none can save from HIM and HIS WORD.
Exodus 20:4 . . .for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me;
5 and showing mercy unto the thousandth generation of them that love Me and keep My commandments.
Sounds like a Husband’s role to me and then some. So I have presented some of what I know to be true in the roles which each participant is given. Perhaps now would be a good time to give an example of someone that actual understood how this works. Perhaps you know this text, but now look at it from our discussion’s point of view.
Psalm 23:
A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul;
He guideth me in straight paths for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou hast anointed my head with oil;
my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;
and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
King David was a man, a KING known for his strength, victories in battle, taking care of His men and wives and the LORD anointed to be KING over Israel. Yet, he presents that the LORD is to him the provider, even as a man to his wife.
We are the LORD’s Children, HIS of spring and HE is OUR FATHER, the MAN/PROVIDER in our life.
Is HE not then truly as a Husband to each of us, Provider, Protector, Healer, Merciful, Our Shelter, Slow to Anger, forgiving our short comings, Giver of the LAW by which we may thrive?

Don’t have a Written Torah or Tanakh, try this one: JPS 1917 Version
IT is to your benefit to HEARKEN until the LIVING GOD OF ISHRAEL, and to your pain and shame to do otherwise.
If it is not already true, then My prayer is that The LORD grant you eyes that see, ears that hear and an understanding heart, then you return unto HIM soon!(Isaiah 6: 9 And He said: ‘Go, and tell this people: hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. 10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they, seeing with their eyes, and hearing with their ears, and understanding with their heart, return, and be healed.’)
My prayer is that The LORD grant you eyes that see, ears that hear and an understanding heart, then you return unto HIM soon!
